Role description:

The VMware Project Manager helps our customers to transform their businesses through the adoption of state-of-the-art VMware solutions. The Professional Services team takes ownership of all technical aspects of customer delivery from the initial gathering of requirements to implementing and testing a solution that meets the customer’s needs. Through close collaboration with pre-sales, product management and engineering, this team builds long term internal and external contacts, ensuring success in our customer’s adoption of VMware’s industry leading solutions.

The Project Manager Graduate will provide support to Project Managers and Senior Project Managers on complex cloud and mobility projects. The role will focus on taking responsibility for many of the Project management administrative responsibilities as well as be actively involved in supporting delivery at all stages of a project.

You will receive a structured training program which includes:

  • 6 - weeks of hands-on training based in Cork (Ireland), in state-of-the-art virtualization, container, Software Defined Datacenter and Cloud technology that is highly desired in the IT industry
  • A further 10-weeks of practical hands-on development based in Paris  (France), with an emphasis on case study based “learning by doing”
  • Project management basics based on VMware delivery methodology, PRINCE2 and Scrum
  • Mentoring, coaching and sponsorship for career development
  • Effective communications training to ensure great customer interactions
  • Customer and partner facing activities and tasks, providing real-world experience
  • Commercial and technical presentation training

Your key responsibilities are:

  • Collaborate with VMware project teams which could consist of VMware pre-sales architects, engineers, product managers and support staff
  • Work alongside and under the guidance of Senior Project Managers in the day to day delivery of complex Cloud and Mobile projects across France according to Agile or Waterfall methodologies
  • Assist architects and project managers in design workshops; mapping VMware solutions to the customer’s technical requirements whilst functioning as an advisory resource for “Best Practices”
  • Manage the creation, update and distribution of project collateral such as project plans, RAG logs, Communication plans, Timesheets, Project Briefs and scheduled reports
  • Ensure project objectives and deliverables for your own projects are fully agreed, documented, supported and agreed by the key stakeholders
  • Directly handle clients and internal stakeholders to communicate project scope, status, billing schedules
  • Manage project budgets by tracking team time and progress
  • Develop long term relationships and trust with clients and colleagues

Graduate Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s/ Master’s degree in Business Management, Management and Technology, Information Systems, Informatics, Software Engineering, Computer Science or relevant  
  • Candidates must have graduated within 12 months of the start date (July 2019)
  • Commercial IT knowledge or software development abilities
  • A persistent, self-starter with a track record of success in their academic career to date
  • Enthusiastic communication manner, excellent listening, interpersonal and writing skills
  • Willingness to learn, with a real passion for all relevant aspects of technology.
