Overview

As the Software Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing and implementing programs as required, to support the technical capabilities at Cox Automotive. This includes both the development of new programs and maintaining existing programs. In the role of Software Engineer, you will be expected to deliver timely responses to production issues, taking ownership of effectively seeing these issues through resolution. To be successful in the role of Software Engineer you must be able to work effectively in a fluid, fast-paced environment while maintaining good communication with management and team members.

Responsibilities


Description

We are looking for an engineering intern to help build tools and utilities. The intern will be a member of a scrum development team that is tasked with building data products that make it easy for our business partners to conduct business effectively and efficiently.


The intern will:
  • Learn and code unit and integration tests
  • Have exposure to debugging and troubleshooting
  • Develop web based utilities for internal projects
  • Learn about code review and code quality measures at Dealertrack
  • Gain high level knowledge of Dealertrack’s web portal architecture
  • Gain high level knowledge about continuous integration
  • Perform team demo (at the end of one of the sprints) to present work performed during the sprint


Qualifications

  • Experience and interest in building web applications
  • Knowledge of programming in Python, Java or C# (or an enthusiasm to learn it)
  • Knowledge of any backend web development
  • Knowledge of object oriented programming (or an enthusiasm to learn it)
  • Knowledge of Linux (or an enthusiasm to learn it)
  • Familiar with GitHub
  • Ability and desire to learn new skills and technologies
  • Proficient communications skills
  • Inquisitive behavior to understand the ‘why’ associated with tasks
  • Major in Computer Science or related field
